Application of a subsidy for SMEs or registered freelancers is now open
The Japanese government started accepting applications for a subsidy for SMEs or registered freelancers who are seriously affected by COVID-19.

【Overview of the subvention】
Any SME or registered freelancer* in Japan is eligible if:
(1) affected by the covid pandemic; and
(2) experienced sales decline by more than 30 % in any month between Nov 2021 and Mar 2022, compared to the same month of 2018 - 2021.
Subvention amounts: ¥2.5 million max for SMEs and ¥500,000 max for registered freelancers.
*' Registered freelancer' means 'kojin-jigyonushi' (個人事業主), who has submitted a notification to a local tax office.
